Nashville Predators 5, Dallas Stars 4: Roman Josi Scores the OT Winner

New, comments

After going two games without a goal over the weekend, the Nashville Predators broke out with a five-goal effort and a thrilling come-from-behind victory over Dallas.

USA TODAY Sports

When the Dallas Stars took a 4-2 lead midway through the second period, things were looking pretty ugly for the offensively-challenged Nashville Predators. Thanks in part to a steady parade to the penalty box, however, the Preds got back into this one and took it to overtime before Roman Josi finished off his career-best night with a blast to win it, 5-4.

For Josi, two goals and two assists tonight give him his first career four-point game, following up nicely on Chris' profile which ran here on Sunday.

Random Observations

  • That 2nd period sure got nasty, didn't it? Yeah, I think these two teams will make perfectly fine division (or conference, whatever they end up calling it) rivals under realignment.
  • It was good to see Patric Hornqvist finally cash in after pouring lots of shots on net in recent games, he certainly brings a unique dimension to the attack.
  • As pesky as he was, you've got to love the way Vern Fiddler played tonight. He was chirping Rich Clune, agitating Mike Fisher, and scored a tremendous goal for Dallas.
  • Speaking of Fisher... HOLY COW that's the type of goal we've been waiting for from him.
  • While the goal-scoring was nice, I'm sure the coaching staff will bemoan some of the breakdowns which led to the deficit they had to make up for. Given the extent to which the lines were shuffled, it's not surprising to see some confusion in the defensive end.
