According to the NHL's media site, the Nashville Predators have placed defenseman Hal Gill on Injured Reserve this morning.
Gill last played on February 23rd at Detroit, leaving the game early with a lower body injury (I've gone back to watch his final shift in this game using NHL GameCenter Live, but I didn't see anything odd - I'll have to look at the rest to see if something happened earlier). He has not been along with the team for their current road trip, so it's not like we were looking for him to play tonight.
What makes this move interesting is that Injured Reserve means that a guy can't play for seven days from the date of injury, which we are well past now. With the Preds carrying 21 guys on the Active Roster now, this leaves room for two potential additions, whether Milwaukee call-ups or via trade.
Brandon Yip is already expected not to play tonight at Los Angeles, leaving the Predators with 20 healthy players at the moment.
