Wednesday's Dump & Chase: Phoenix Coyotes Stay In Glendale, Change Name to Arizona

But it could've been Seattle. Our friends at Five For Howling have a great breakdown of the deal, but this is fantastic news for Coyotes fans. The league fought pretty hard to keep the team where it is, with the great Gary Bettman pronouncing Arizona a "wonderful market". While idiots like Nate Silver who want 8 teams in Toronto are surely broken-hearted, this is a good thing for the league. And who knows what removing the threat of relocation every year will do to attendance? ( While the Coyotes are staying put, we're on the FIRST PLACE! Help make it happen by voting for OTF in the Toast of Music City Reader's Choice Awards. Thanks for all your support!)

Smashville 24/7 - Free Agent Targets: Danny Briere

Here's the problem I see with Nashville signing some of these buyout guys. They're already getting paid by someone else, so they can feel free to pick the best situation to win, where they'd prefer to live, etc. over the most money (not that we'd offer the most anyway). And a guy like Briere, who's older, would probably pick a spot where he can contend for the Cup this year. Is that where we're at right now?
