A different kind of "fantasy". We hope.

This is it folks, we're in it for all the marbles. Jason and I are participating in the most brutal, most brag-worthy fantasy league that you couldn't possibly care even a bit about. That's right, it's an all Conference III duel to the death!

Joining us and III Communication are our SB Nation frenemies at Mile High HockeySt. Louis Game TimeHockey Wilderness, and Defending Big D. We're also have Cheer the Anthem and Jets Nation there as well, but who cares about the Hawks or the Jets? Or any of these teams, really? (But for real, read the blogs.)

We had our 16-team ultra-marathon draft recently, and here's what we started the season with:

Zito - Gritty Sandpaper

C: Patrick Marleau, Jeff Carter, Bryan Little

LW: Mats Zuccarello, Brayden Schenn, Jakob Silfverberg

RW: Phil Kessel, Jaromir Jagr, Matt Read

D: P.K. Subban, Mike Green, Jay Bouwmeester, Ryan Ellis, Radko Gudas

BN: Nick Bonino, Alex Kilorn, Travis Hamonic, Brad Boyes, Andre Benoit

G: Pekka Rinne, Jaroslav Halak

Garcia - Jedi Hat Trick

C: Anze Kopitar, Paul Stastny, Tyler Johnson

LW: Jeff Skinner, Brandon Saad, Shane Doan

RW: Kyle Okposo, Valeri Nichushkin, Craig Smith

D: Oliver Ekman-Larson, Roman Josi, Johnny Boychuck, Niklas Hjalmarsson, Kevin Bieksa

BN: Artem Anisimov, Marcus Johansson, Filip Forsberg, Jamie McGuinn

G: Jonathan Quick, Braden Holtby, Alex Stalock

Jason: I'm pretty happy with my roster overall. The biggest problem I have playing fantasy sports is having to root for guys and teams I can't stand, and I think I did a pretty good job of avoiding any major conflicts of interest. Having Jay Bouwmeester makes me wanna barf, but who doesn't want to root for Jagr?

Jon: Not a ton of huge household names, but they should get it done. Ironically, defense and goaltending are going to be my pillars, except for stupid Boychuck getting traded to the stupid Islanders. My emotions for Craig Smith are going to go off the charts this year.

We're both in separate divisions, so a collision in the championship seems inevitable. We'll update on our progress periodically. Anybody else in a fantasy league this year? Share your rosters and discuss in the comments...
