Monday's Dump & Chase: East of Eden

After 8 consecutive games against the Western Conference, the Preds kickoff a week of 3 straight against that Lesser Conference: the East. Don't forget that for tomorrow and Thursday's games that means a 6:30 pm start (as opposed to the standard 1 am start times against most of the West). Whenever the Preds travel East I‘m always brought back to one single question...why are we still in the West? I mean yes, I love the rivalries, I love the completion, but seriously, why? I give full props to the NHL, the new Divisions are far better than the old ones, but with the distribution of teams, isn’t the East-West divide thing a little outdated? This isn’t the 1700's where anything past the Ohio Valley was 'out West' so let’s stop pretending it is. What would be wrong with a Southeastern Division of Carolina, the Florida teams, Dallas and Nashville? I acknowledge that the ratings black hole this would cause makes this a pipe dream, but can we at least do something about the whole Easter Conference, Western Conference thing? Anyway, while the Preds still remain close to the top of the Continental North America Conference Standings, it will be a nice change of pace to see some fresh blood against the Eastern Seaboard and Ohio Conference. Enjoy the week folks!
