Wednesday's Dump and Chase: The Never Ending Quest for Balance

New, comments

One noticeable improvement in this early season has been the Predators play at evens. They've scored 23 of their 29 goals 5-on-5. Obviously, being a great even strength team will increases your chances of winning. But last night was a great example how special teams can steal you a win or hand you a frustrating loss. The Predators PK looked overmatched by a weak Jets power play and couldn't set up their own PP if it were Legos. Through twelve games the Predators rank in the leagues bottom five for both PP (25th) and PK (28th) and have yet to find any sort of balance between special teams and even strength play. Now after a weak showing against the Jets, a healthy Stars squad and the Blues are on the horizon. The Preds now have their first bit of adversity to overcome.
