Tomas Vokoun has reportedly decided his time in the NHL is done.
G Tomas Vokoun (38) calls it a career after 16 NHL seasons. Confirmed for Czech daily Sport. "I think I can be proud of the career I had..."— Zdenek Janda (@zdenek_janda) December 15, 2014
The Czech Republic native was selected by the Nashville Predators in the 1998 Expansion Draft, and played 7 seasons with the club. He's still the franchise leader in games and minutes played. He also started in the first-ever playoff game for the Preds in 2003.
In 2012, Vokoun signed a two-year deal with the Pittsburgh Penguins after being traded there from the Washington Capitals. Unfortunately, after only a year of the deal, Vokoun sat out the entire 2013-14 season due to blood clots.
The Olympian amassed 300 wins in the NHL, and his still held in extremely high regard in this part of the hockey world. Good luck in retirement, Tomas. You earned it.
