Team: Modo (SHL)
Hometown: Kramfors, Sweden
DOB: September 13, 1996
Projected: Top 20
Another one of the many power forwards in the draft, Adrian Kempe of Modo is a player with many tools at his disposal to make teams as high as the top ten take a hard look at him come draft day. He already is close to NHL size, possesses tremendous speed, and has a solid two-way game. Also helping him is his excellent wrist shot, his aggressive nature, and his vision on the ice.
Kempe might be one of the more safe picks come draft day because he is so well rounded and because, as stated earlier, he does have a number of tools that he uses to his advantage. On top of that, despite being one of the youngest players in this year's draft, he is already playing in the top league in Sweden against fully-grown men.
"He's a big, strong, bullish forward who can play center or wing. He likes to drive hard for the net, using his strength and skating to his advantage. He plays the body and is aggressive when forechecking. He has a good defensive game for a player with his offensive skills; mobile, solid and strong."
Adrian is an excellent skater with speed and he uses it to get to openings and to back off defenders. He's a player who understands how to use that skating to maximum benefit and to create chances."
Where He Would Fit
Should the Predators pick Adrian Kempe in the upcoming draft, they would be adding yet another Swede to their large collection of Scandinavian prospects. One of the good things about Kempe is you can stick him in on a third, second, or first line, on the power play, and on the penalty kill and he will provide what you need. You could put him in Trotz's system or on almost any other system you needed him for and he would still most likely perform.
Because of this, he would be a very safe pick for a team that is trying to change their identity and possibly their front office. As of right now, the Predators are likely to end up between the eleventh and sixth spot on the draft board so Kempe could be a realistic option.
