Preds Letter to Season Ticket Holders

The first half of the 2014-15 season has been nothing short of sensational in Smashville. Your Nashville Predators sit in first place in the NHL’s toughest division, The Central, and boast the best winning percentage in the entire league. The reason for this success starts with you, the 7th Man. Your passionate support gives our players the best home ice advantage in the NHL. Head Coach Peter Laviolette has brought an uptempo philosophy that has translated into more shots, more scoring chances, more goals and ultimately more wins.

Goaltender Pekka Rinne is back to his world-class form, and although presently injured we look forward to his return after the All Star Game and to him continuing to provide Vezina and Hart Trophy-caliber goaltending each and every game. Rookie Filip Forsberg, named the NHL’s Rookie of the Month in November, has averaged nearly a point-per-game on his way to breaking the Predators’ franchise record for points by a rookie and in only 39 games.
Shea Weber and Roman Josi form the top defensive pairing in the NHL, sitting in the Top 15 in points scored and most importantly shutting down the opposition’s best players every game. New forwards James Neal and Mike Ribeiro have paced the Preds offensively, while up-and-coming wingers Colin Wilson and Craig Smith are on course for record-setting seasons.
Despite playing in the League’s toughest division, a mixture of veteran leadership represented by Mike Fisher, Matt Cullen, Eric Nystrom, Paul Gaustad, Ollie Jokinen andAnton Volchenkov and youth represented by Calle Jarnkrok, Ryan Ellis, Mattias Ekholm,Seth Jones, Victor Bartley, Taylor Beck and Gabriel Bourque have guided the Preds to the best 45-game start in franchise history. Laviolette often says he manages the hardest-working group of players in the NHL and their hard work coupled with your support have the Predators where they are today.
Because of your support, Smashville is setting attendance records and is on pace for a record number of sellouts. With Josi, Neal, Rinne and Weber under multi-year contracts and the team in control of the contractual status of the youth mentioned above, we plan on "keeping the band together" for years to come so that this year’s success continues for the foreseeable future.

Off the ice, we could not be more excited about the 2016 NHL All-Star Game and surrounding activities coming to Nashville in a little more than a year! The 2016 NHL All-Star Celebration will provide a platform for the entire hockey world to experience Smashville at its finest and we have no doubt it will be remembered as the best NHL All-Star Celebration ever. Additionally, Bridgestone Arena remains one of the busiest buildings in North America. Don’t forget, as a Season-Ticket Holder you receive pre-sale access to these great events.

Smashville is well known across the NHL as having a passionate fan base. You, the 7th Man, create home ice advantage for your Nashville Predators. We currently hold a 18-2-1 home record, which is a testament to your commitment and dedication to this team and the excitement that you bring to Smashville every game. We continually strive to grow Smashville and reward your passion with the best team possible and a world class experience. Given our successes on and off the ice, Smashville is experiencing an unacceptable number of opposing team fans for certain marquee games at Bridgestone Arena disrupting the home ice advantage that the 7th Man provides. From ownership down, we find this unsatisfactory and are committed to having a sea of gold in our building to continuously prove to Central Division opponents, and the rest of the NHL, that the Predators will always have home ice advantage in Smashville.
We asked you what you thought about the increased number of visiting fans and you were loud and clear…
  • "Keep Bridgestone Gold" – Season Ticket-Holder
  • "I don’t want to see any more opposing team’s fans in season-ticket holder seats." – Season-Ticket Holder

  • "I would even significantly reduce the sale price of my ticket if I knew it went to a Preds fan. If I can’t make it, I would practically give it to a local Preds fan." – Season-Ticket Holder

  • "Do whatever it takes to keep seats in blue and gold. Tired of uber-obnoxious (visiting) fans, being louder than us." – Season-Ticket Holder

  • "It doesn’t get any better than playing in Smashville in front of our 7th Man!" – Ryan Ellis

Having heard from you and our players, we may be implementing some and possibly all of the policies listed below for next season and the playoffs designed to retain and build upon our home ice advantage. In the coming weeks, you will receive your 2015-16 renewal brochure that will include Playoff Options and All-Star information. The renewal brochure will also detail the new steps and initiatives we will be implementing to help "Grow the Gold". These programs, designed with your feedback and comments in mind, have shaped the plan that we are putting forth and show our organization’s commitment to every Citizen of Smashville and to our players to maintain Smashville’s home ice advantage. Upcoming programs include:
Gear Up in Gold Season Ticket Holders in attendance at pre-determined games will receive premium giveaways throughout the season, exclusively for Season-Ticket Holders.
Select Marquee Matchups We may not put single-game tickets on sale to designated games on the same schedule as we have in the past. When these single-game tickets do go on sale, they will only be sold only in our market and will be paperless (i.e. fans must scan the credit card used to purchase the tickets to enter the building).
We will also only sell group ticket packages for designated games to local groups with which our organization has a prior relationship.
Smashville Proud For these selected matchups, which will be communicated shortly after the NHL releases the 2015/16 schedule (ETA – summer), Season Ticket Holders will need to use their passport to enter Bridgestone Arena. To the extent that tickets need to be forwarded or otherwise electronically shared, Season-Ticket Holders will need to contact their representative to facilitate these types of transactions.
Share Partner If you have a "share partner," who has one of the selected match-ups, your Predators representative can move your tickets to a secondary passport to allow for your partner to gain entry to Bridgestone Arena.

Earning Opportunities Season-Ticket Holders may sell their tickets back to the Predators for 110% of the season-ticket price, to be applied as an account credit toward their season-ticket renewal or Stanley Cup Playoff tickets. If Season-Ticket Holders return their tickets, they will also receive additional tickets to a designated future game. The tickets we buy back will only be sold to local Nashville Predators fans at no more than the Season Ticket value paid for them.
These new programs and initiatives are designed to enhance the experience of Nashville Predators fans at each and every home game and to maintain our player’s competitive advantage that the 7th man & Smashville provide. They are a reflection of our commitment to do what is in the best interest of the team’s core fans and players. The Predators’ "Grow the Gold" program is on the cutting edge of fan development programs in the National Hockey League.
We appreciate your ongoing support through what is gearing up to be a fantastic second-half of the 2014-15 season and look forward to that support continuing throughout the 2015-16 season and Nashville’s celebration of the 2016 NHL All-Star Weekend.
Sincerely,
Jeff Cogen C.E.O.
Sean Henry President and C.O.O.
