Friday's Dump & Chase: Five AHL Teams Moving to Beautiful California

New, comments

Yesterday the AHL announced they will be moving the AHL affiliates of the Los Angeles Kings, Calgary Flames, Anaheim Ducks, San Jose Sharks, and Edmonton Oilers to various cities in California. One thing about this move that stands out to me is the utter cruelty of punishing players who are stuck within the Oilers and Flames organizations by making them live in Stockton and Bakersfield, CA. Bakersfield, for those of you who don't know, is the armpit of the universe and the hometown of the band Korn. There is a Korn Row in Bakersfield and the 'R' in 'Korn' is backwards on the street sign. Seriously.

Interesting idea for the Flames. Richards could be a good player for the Flames' kids to develop around. Or he could be the opposite, depending on which Mike Richards you get.
