Andrew Weber-USA TODAY Sports

The new NHL hockey season starts tomorrow, which means the 2016 NHL All Star Game is also around the corner.

As Nashville gets ready for their hosting duties this year, they have finally unveiled logos and details for the Winter Park being held at Walk of Fame Park across from Bridgestone Arena.

Speaking from experience, the park at last year's All Star Game in Columbus was pretty cool, though there is going to be a lot of upkeep with the skating rink. By Saturday and Sunday of the actual festivities, it was essentially like skating on a gravel parking lot.

We also seem to be missing out on a gigantic slide. Alas.

The park opens on December 12th, which will give locals plenty of opportunity to explore the park, go skating, and enjoy the numerous festivities taking place.

Of course, the Music City Center will be playing host to everything else over the weekend. Again, last year's experience of hanging out at the Fan Fest at the convention center, then walking over to the arena was great. This year, all of those are literally right next to each other, rather than being a couple of blocks away.

From the Preds:

At the Walk of Fame Park, the site where the Winter Park will be held in conjunction with the 2016 NHL® All-Star Weekend, the Nashville Predators, Nashville Sports Council and Bridgestone Americas debuted the logo of the event that is now two months away.

The Winter Park will feature an ice rink, concert stage and family-focused activities, which will help to bring the excitement of the NHL’s showcase event outdoors for the community at large to enjoy. Predators CEO Jeff Cogen said the Park will also help to kick off the festivities weeks before the All-Star Weekend on Jan. 30-31, with the Park scheduled to open on Dec. 12.

"Picture the CMA Festival meets the All-Star Game," Preds President Sean Henry said at a meeting with Nashville media earlier in the year. "We want to make sure we’re celebrating hockey for Nashville and for [tens of thousands] of people.

"There will be a lot of outdoor events, combined with Fan Fair [a NHL staple of All-Star Weekend]. Ideally, the outdoor rink and the park is populated that first week of December, almost like [New York City’s] Rockefeller Center. The League was excited about it because it can really change what the All-Star Game continues to be."
