Pekka Rinne, Finnish sorcerer, stops puck with magic or something

New, comments

Seriously. How else would you explain it?

Aaron Doster-USA TODAY Sports

Pekka Rinne is aided by mystic forces.

Stories of his saves are legendary, and the highlights have been piling up recently. First he robs Carl Hagelin twice on the same breakaway. Next he takes a sure goal away from Max Domi. Tonight against the Florida Panthers, he somehow stopped ageless wonder Jaromir Jagr from depositing the puck.

Jagr had a wide open net to shoot at, but Rinne somehow got a chunk of his shot to stymie the puck on the way past the red line. Then, as if that weren't enough, just as it hit a post and teetered on the goal line, Rinne had the awareness to sweep it out of danger.

So many different types of luck were involved, that the only explanation is Rinne knows how to manipulate the very fabric of our universe. He is starting to use it to his advantage.

The Predators thank him.
