Thursday's Dump & Chase: Scuttlebuttin'

New, comments

Not a bad new year in the Music City so far. We haven't talked about it yet, but a Chris Stapleton and Kings of Leon concert downtown was a nice start. And now, our beloved hockey team did the one thing we've been asking of them to do for a long while: get a top-line center.

Let's party.

That bass line is filthy. Wow.

We might not win the cup this year, but we now have the team in town that is built like a team that CAN win the cup someday. Take a moment to breathe that in today. But first, here are a bunch of people who agree with me:

Nashville Predators News, Notes, and HOT TAKES (mostly regarding the trade)

Predators acquire Ryan Johansen for Seth Jones | Tennessean
"If we didn't make this trade today, we'd be trying to make the same trade tomorrow, the next day, in the offseason," Poile said. "Looking at free agency, looking at the draft, it just wasn't there, so this is a good move for us today and for the future."

Dan Rosen releases the fricken dragon.
"Tortorella never loved Johansen, but it appeared the forward's marriage to the Blue Jackets was doomed even before the new coach came on board seven games into this season. It likely started to deteriorate when Johansen didn't report last season because of a contract dispute; he eventually signed for three years."

If Johansen can get back to 60+ point seasons and raise his handsome/60, we'll consider it a success.
