Nashville Predators vs. Winnipeg Jets: Round Two

New, comments

Put a little hockey in your Sunday Funday.

NHL: Winnipeg Jets at Nashville Predators Christopher Hanewinckel-USA TODAY Sports

The Nashville Predators are looking to capitalize on a 5-1 win over the Winnipeg Jets with yet another win against their Central Division rivals.

Nashville will be without scoring powerhouse James Neal on this road trip after he left Friday night’s game with an upper-body injury. Colton Sissons was also hurt in the tilt and will join Neal in staying put in Nashville. With Ryan Ellis still listed day-to-day with an upper body injury, several call-ups have been made.

It was announced yesterday that the Predators called up Kevin Fiala, Frederick Gaudreau, Mike Liambas, and Petter Granberg. Paired with the re-call of Juuse Saros we could see a very youthful lineup tonight in the Peg.

The Winnipeg Jets

Friday night’s loss to Nashville continued the Jets’ losing streak to five games. If they decide to go for six tonight, they’ll be securely seated not just at the bottom of the Central but the bottom of the league.

The Predators absolutely dominated the Jets Friday night. Aside from Dustin Byfuglien’s lone goal in the first period, you might have thought Nashville was playing a recreation league team.

If the Jets were desperate before they’ll be out for blood tonight and the Predators should prep for a very physical game.

The Nashville Predators

The Predators will be looking to finish out this week with their fourth consecutive win. Nashville was able to make some magic happen Friday against Winnipeg. Even without the likes of Neal, Sissons, and Ellis they’ll be looking to recreate Friday’s dominating performance.

As predicted Colin Wilson burst into Playoff Colin Wilson and netted two goals with some beautiful passing from Mike Fisher. If you blinked you might have thought you were watching the playoffs all over again. Just great hockey.

The key for the Predators to keep their winning streak alive is a given. Just keep scoring. When they score, they win, and we get free food. Everyone is happy.

Reasons to Watch

  • Kevin Fiala has been in Milwaukee for some time now, and while the Predators have been fine without him, expect the youngster to be trying to win his spot back.
  • Colin Wilson may have officially crossed over into “Well Rounded” Colin Wilson territory Friday night. We’ll have to keep our eyes peeled to find out.
  • Goaltending - It’s expected that with the re-call of Saros we’ll see him play either today or Tuesday night against Colorado. Little Bear is Nashville’s future, who doesn’t want to see him play? Or if Pekka Rinne, who’s been phenomenal lately, gets the nod today, who doesn’t love a good Rinne wall?
