Pekka Rinne has been selected to represent his country in the upcoming World Cup of Hockey tournament.

He's the first of a handful of Predators expected to be selected to play in Toronto from September 17th to October 1st. He's expected to back up the Boston Bruins' Tuuka Rask, which should be a delight to the ears of Preds fans. Even though that means he's not going to get as much playing time, it means he won't be as worn down when the season starts. Rinne's rest is a point of contention, as it should be, and pulling back up duty should help keep that in check.

The full roster is below and you can read about the team here:

Tuukka Rask, Boston Bruins, G
Pekka Rinne, Nashville Predators, G
Esa Lindell, Dallas Stars, D
Aleksander Barkov, Florida Panthers, F
Mikael Granlund, Minnesota Wild, F
