Last week, the NHL Network released their list of Top 20 defensemen in the NHL right now, and Roman Josi came in at No. 7 while P.K. Subban grabbed the No. 8 spot. Today, the NHL Network listed their Top 10 goalies in the league right now and Pekka Rinne rounded out the list at No. 10.

Via the NHL Network:

Nashville Predators goalie Pekka Rinne ranked 10th on NHL Network’s new countdown series Top 10 Goalies Right Now this past Saturday night, ranking the best goalies in the National Hockey League. Rinne finished one spot behind two-time All-Star Marc-Andre Fleury of the Pittsburgh Penguins.

NHL Network’s Tony Luftman and Mike Johnson counted down the best goalies based on player performance over the past several seasons, with an emphasis on the 2015-2016 season. The ranking also weighted projected performance in the 2016-2017 season, taking into account players returning from injury and young players expected to break out. An embeddable video recap of the complete ranking, listed below, can be seen here.

NHL Network’s Top 10 Goalies Right Now:

1. Braden Holtby, Washington Capitals

2. Carey Price, Montreal Canadiens

3. Jonathan Quick, Los Angeles Kings

4. Ben Bishop, Tampa Bay Lightning

5. Cory Schneider, New Jersey Devils

6. Henrik Lundqvist, New York Rangers

7. Corey Crawford, Chicago Blackhawks

8. Martin Jones, San Jose Sharks

9. Marc-Andre Fleury, Pittsburgh Penguins

10. Pekka Rinne, Nashville Predators

His career record of 238-136-53 and career save percentage of .917 is nothing to scoff at, but let’s not forget that Rinne posted the 16th worst even strength save percentage last season (.920) among goalies with at least 1,000 minutes played. Plus, his save percentage in all situations among that same group of netminders ranked as the 14th worst (.907).

Are there players that could be sitting in that No. 10 spot on this particular list instead of Rinne? Absolutely, but some may argue that Rinne is indeed a Top 10 goalie in the NHL still today.

Oh, and after all, this is just one list.

Is Rinne on your list of Top 10 goalies in the NHL right now?
