Big one in Nashville between the Preds and Flames. Some serious playoff implications in this one. David Poile called thr ol’ 4-point game.
As per Nashville tradition, the Preds give up the first goal of the game as Micheal Ferland buries his 9th of the season. P.K. Subban with the equalizer for Nashville as Elliot had to battle Fiala in a death-defying close call. Michael Backlund beats Pekka and Calgary is back in front 2-1. There’s that Ferlund guy again and the Preds with a terrible opening period.
Dougie Hamilton chases Pekka with his 9th of the year and the Flames up 4-1. Filip Forsberg does his best to help the Preds back in and makes it 4-2. Colin Wilson makes it 4-3, and then Forsberg goes on a tear and scores 2 consecutive goals for his third career hat trick and the Preds somehow lead 5-4!
Saros doing a great job in relief of Pekka, however Backlund scores to tie it 5-5 and the Preds blow their lead they worked so hard for. We’re going to overtime. Nashville never touched the puck in OT and the Flames win on a Mark Giordano goal 43 seconds in. Preds escape with a point.
Random Observations
- If we could not give up the first goal of the game, that’d be great
- The Preds cant afford to lose this one with Calgary on their tails in the Wild Card race
- Preds outplaying Calgary despite trailing early
- Hey a Subban goal sighting
- Down 3-1 after the first...it’s time for Laviolette to start punching noses
- Ooof Dougie Hamilton with a potential dagger there and its now 4-1
- Here come Juuse
- Fil trying to help out, his 17th of the year
- Regular season Colin Wilson makes an appearance!
- Filip Forsberg we are not worthy! That is his third career hat trick
- Uh oh tie game...I smell overtime
- The Preds never even touched the puck in OT
OTF’s Super Duper Stars of the Night
- Filip Forsberg - repeat after me: HAT TRICK
- Colin Wilson - he scored a goal! Good job Willy. And its not even the playoffs yet
- P.K. Subban - He extended his point streak to four games (a season high) and he now has eight points in his last 6 games.

The most important aspect of Filip Forsberg's hat trick is that Billy Ray Cyrus is here to witness it.
