2017 Expansion Draft and NHL Awards: Details & How To Watch

The 2017 NHL Expansion Draft & Awards event is tonight in Vegas! In addition to handing out fancy trophies to the league’s best players, the league will hand out new Nevada addresses to some of the league’s most mediocre players.

It’s gonna be fun.

The only award up for grabs of interest to Nashville Predators fans is the award for General Manager of the Year, which David Poile should most certainly win. If he doesn’t, we riot.

The whole event should be fun to watch, so here’s how to do that.

2017 NHL Expansion Draft Rules

• Vegas will take one player — no more, or no less — from each existing team.
• They must select at least 14 forwards, nine defensemen and three goalies.
• 20 of the 30 players must be under contract in 2017-18.
• The cap hit of all players selected in the Expansion Draft must be somewhere between $43.8 million and $73 million.
