2018-2019 Player Reviews: Anthony Bitetto

Farewell, Tony 2Bit.

Tony Bitetto, the longtime 7th or 8th defender, skated in 18 contests for the Predators in 2018-2019.

Season Overview

When Bitetto took the ice, he was most often paired with Yannick Weber. He contributed three assists in his final season in Nashville. He never really developed into a top-six defender, and his services were no longer needed in gold.

Best Moment

#2 assisted on Frederick Gaudreau’s VERY FIRST NON-PLAYOFF NHL GOAL in late November against the Blues. There’s not much notable about Bitetto on ice, but he was a presence off the ice for many of the Preds’ charitable efforts here in Nashville.

Along with Colton Sissons and Austin Watson, Bitetto was once again involved in a Christmas party for children who might not otherwise receive Christmas gifts. Thank you, Tony.

Worst Moment

Bitetto was placed on waivers in late January and picked up by the Minnesota Wild. He played 18 more games for the Wild. His big personality and huge smile are missed, but his contributions have been next to nonexistent with Nashville for a few seasons.

Bitetto signed a contract with the Winnipeg Jets in July. They are his third NHL club.

Final Grade

C

Anthony Bitetto was never a high-scoring phenom in Nashville, but it’s evident that he was relatively well-loved by most of the fanbase. He rounded out the third defense pairing with a smile and tons of fun, but his on-ice efforts were few and far between. Good luck in Winnipeg, Tony.
