New, comments

Monday was a pretty busy news day for the Predators - and I didn’t even link all of the articles.

Smashville News:

Saros emerging as reliable backup goaltender for Predators | NHL.com
It's a contest between Finns. Who can heap the most praise on the other while remaining the humblest himself? This relationship has been fun to watch.

Predators' Nick Bonino starting to reveal value to team | Tennessean
Nick Bonino seems to be coming off the learning curve or as Lavy would put it, "he's caught the train".

Country Music Star Brad Paisley Paints Mural at Bridgestone Arena | NHL.com
How cool is this? Mr. Paisley is one very talented man. I can't wait to see it in person.

Tennessee Athletic Trainer of the Year Keeps Preds Flying High |NHL.com
Congratulations to Andy Hosler for this well deserved honor.

Subban to visit 'The Daily Show with Trevor Noah' on Jan. 24 | NHL.com
Public Service Announcement - set your DVR. Mine is ready. (Also, I can't believe I almost typed VCR!)

Central Division News:

NHL Mixed Bag: Blackhawks fading fast in competitive Central; Flyers add to Philly fun | Sporting News
If nothing else - the title, the title. It made my day.

Nathan MacKinnon: Matt Duchene trade improved Avalanche culture "a lot" | The Denver Post
Nathan MacKinnon is not calling Matt Duchene out. He thinks they would have been fine if Duchene wanted to stay. It's apparently just a lot better having everyone in the room wanting to be there.

Jets back in first place, but rest of division keeping it close | Winnipeg Sun
Or in last week's words, the Central Division is CRAZY!

Other Hockey News:

6 reasons the Vegas Golden Knights are the NHL’s surprise No. 1 team | SBNation.com
Calling the Vegas Golden Knights a ragtag bunch is a little disingenuous. Combine their much more favorable draft terms (paid for at a high dollar price) with a coach who was needlessly humiliated in public by his previous team, throw in a "they didn't want you" narrative and you have a very talented and motivated team. (See next.)

Gallant making most of chance to coach Golden Knights | NHL.com
I hate that the Vegas Golden Knights are in first place, however I am very happy that Gerard Gallant has gotten some vindication. James Neal? He ain't missing us at all.

Super Slo-mo: Week 15 | NHL.com
Hello Ellie and Peks - oops! Hi Sissons - oh nice try. Hello Bones, Ellie and Peks - yes! Wattie with the save!

Marc Savard retires from NHL seven years after playing final game | ESPN.com
I had no idea his contract was still active. Good luck to him in his quest for a coaching career.

Constable: 'There's nothing disabled' about sled hockey | Daily Herald
As I have never seen a sled hockey game, I have never considered what would happen when they got checked. Also I didn't realize that the sled was balanced on two blades (one front and one back). This sounds really difficult. Good luck to team USA in the Olympics!
