Predators Sign Matt Irwin, Yannick Weber, and Anthony Bitetto To Extensions

New, comments

Three defensemen all receive extensions.

Boston Bruins v Nashville Predators

On what was otherwise going to be an uneventful Tuesday, General Manager David Poile signed all of his bottom three defensemen to contract extensions. Both Matt Irwin and Yannick Weber signed identical two-year contracts, woth $650,000 next season and $700,000 in 2019-20. Meanwhile, Anthony Bitetto signed a one-year contract worth $650,000 next season.

The Predators’ defensive depth has been a great boon for them. All three defensemen signed have their pros and cons, but keeping all of them around for as little as David Poule signed them for will keep the competition fresh and challenge them to improve. The only downside is that Bitetto is not being paid in Bitcoin, because that just makes too much sense.
