Today is the last day of the hockey off season. Tomorrow we have actual games that count! Yay!

Smashville News:

Bonino's Disguise Tricks Preds |
This is must watch TV. Topping even his stunt last Halloween, Nick Bonino attends PredsFest in disguise. The reactions are priceless. My favorites are Craig Smith's laugh and Calle Jarnkrok's belly laugh.

Predators Assign Colin Blackwell to Milwaukee |
Goodbye Colin Blackwell, we hardly knew ye.

Predators' Rocco Grimaldi: Hits waiver wire |
Is anyone really surprised Zac Rinaldo was chosen over Rocco Grimaldi? I hope he clears waivers.

Preds Acquire Forward Nick Baptiste from Buffalo |
I got nothing. Maybe Eeli Tolvanen will be moving up soon or maybe someone is injured we don't know about. Or maybe just restocking the Admirals? Anybody?

There are no new D&D pictures this week although they are the October pets in the Nashville Predators 2018 Calendar. (Remember when Dozer was a puppy before he grew into his name?) This week another peek at the little girl who lights up Instagram, Juni Jarnkrok. (Her mother posted her full name a week or two back and her initials are JJJJ.)

Ex-Flyer Scott Hartnell Retires from NHL After 17 Years | Bleacher Report
Lots of good messages from the boys and the hockey world on Scott Hartnell's Instagram and Twitter. He is one of the good guys. Best wishes for your next steps in life Hartsy.

Anaheim Ducks claim Pontus Aberg from Edmonton Oilers. Addition by subtraction? | Edmonton Journal
Here is a look at putting Pontus Aberg on waivers from the Edmonton point of view. Whatever the young man did or didn't do, he didn't deserve to be picked up by the Anaheim Ducks.

Central Division News:

Corey Crawford joins Blackhawks in practice: update 2018 | Chicago Sun*Times
"For the first time since his dismal morning skate on Feb. 13 in Arizona, Crawford joined the Hawks in practice." Reports Monday were that he is medically cleared to play, but is not expected to be ready for the Chicago Blackhawks opener.

Blues acquire Jerabek from Oilers |
Is a sixth round conditional pick more or less than a bag of pucks?

Jets rise from rags to riches | Winnipeg Free Press
The Winnipeg Jets are this year's 2017 Nashville Predators. No more flying under the radar. (See what I did there?)

NHL Power Rankings: Bolts, Jets lead the way heading into season |
Remember when we were the prediction darlings? Perhaps it is better to NOT be rated at the top. I do take exception to the San Jose Sharks being ranked above us because of their D corps. (I doubt anyone shudders at our power play though.)

Hellebuyck preseason favorite for Vezina Trophy |
Connor Hellebuyck 55 points, Andrei Vasilevskiy 53 points and EIGHT MORE goalies until the next one is reigning Vezina Trophy winner Pekka Rinne with 11 points. I understand Pekka's playoffs were uninspiring, but this is a regular season award. Show some respect!

An Emotional 2018–2019 NHL Season Preview |
Warning: There is a little bit of explicit language in this piece and it is quite long. It gave me soooo many chuckles though. For example: "Henrik Lundqvist in a flawless three-piece suit absolutely stink-eying 22 unwashed frat bros in tattered sweatpants." or "The Hawks keep trying to recreate the magic of their Cup years, but it’s like meeting up with your high school friends at Applebees over Thanksgiving weekend.". Oh, and the bit about Suter and Parise....hahahaha

Shea Weber becomes the 30th captain in Canadiens history |
Well, now I know that I can be insanely happy for someone and deeply sorry for them at the same time.

18 storylines to watch entering 2018-19 season |
There sure are a bunch of "watches" and the season hasn't even started yet.
