Nashville Predators News & Notes

Predators vs Jets: Nashville upbeat despite Game 1 loss to Winnipeg | Tennessean
“If I’m being honest, that’s the best game we’ve probably played in the playoffs,” Predators defenseman P.K. Subban said. “Maybe one of our best of the year.”

“It sucks to lose that first one,” Predators defenseman Ryan Ellis said. “But I think we can take the fact that we played a really good game.”

The Preds were an absolute possession monster on Friday night, but too often they relied on shots from the point that just weren’t going to beat Connor Hellebuyck Friday night. Ryan Johansen at least offered a bit more perspective on the loss.

Ron and Don: Positive thinking could've helped Matthews in playoffs | Sportsnet
“He only played 15 minutes one game, I would have him playing 23 minutes,” Cherry said of Matthews, who averaged 17:32 minutes over the series’ seven games but finished in the 15-minutes range in Games 1 and 5. “This guy is a horse, he’s big—he’s got to play a lot of hockey. Fifteen doesn’t mean anything. …He should play 23-24 minutes, like [Patrice] Bergeron.”

Hey. You know that guy who hasn't looked the same since his back injury in November? They should be playing him 23 minutes a night!
