The Nashville Predators have signed 21-year-old defenseman Filip Pyrochta from Bili Tygri Liberec of the top Czech league.
Earlier last week Bob McKenzie indicated that Pyrochta would be choosing from several offers around this time:
‘Tis the season, for European UFAs and this SWE centre, according to @UffeBodin, headed to TOR. Also, CZE D Filip Pyrochta, 21, is a UFA with multiple NHL offers and will make his decision by end of this week https://t.co/kyaeiUQKis— Bob McKenzie (@TSNBobMcKenzie) April 30, 2018
The Predators confirmed they’d signed Pyrochta earlier today.
Pyrochta has impressed the last couple seasons after spending two seasons in the QMJHL with the Victoriaville Tigres and the Val-d’Or Foreurs. Since 2016, he has skated in 85 Czech games and recorded 18 points and 34 Czech2 games totaling 19 points. He has also skated for the Czech Republic internationally on several occasions.
Pyrochta is considered one of the top international free agents this summer. I surmise he may spend some time in Milwaukee next season. Full breakdown of the signing to come soon!
