It was a distant third, too.
Subban had a career year by many standards, even if he didn’t achieve a career high in points and even if he didn’t actually win the Norris. He was the foundation of the Predators defense this year, a year when Ryan Ellis missed half the year and Roman Josi took on more of a leadership role.
Finishing with 16 goals and 43 assists, his total of 59 points is the 2nd highest mark in his career. He spent most of the year with Alexei Emelin, a considerable drain on his abilities, and he also had a ridiculous number of defensive zone starts. He also had 25 points on the power play, where he played a significant role. If you need more analysis on Subban’s season, Kate has an excellent recap (even if you disagree with her final grade).
P.K. Subban is the highest paid Nashville Predator and he certainly earned his money this year. Despite how the playoffs ended, Subban was a star for the Predators all year long.
