Tuesday’s Dump & Chase: Le Sigh

I started counting with Sunday’s D&C how many ways the writers will find to express boredom with the slow hockey summer. This makes three.

Johansen brothers team up for charity, hope to go head-to-head on the ice soon | The Province
Better yet, maybe we can make a trade in a year or two. Good job on the summer charity event Ryan Johansen!

Taylor Tasked with Developing Future Preds in Milwaukee | NHL.com
This sounds like Karl Taylor is going to be a good fit with the Nashville Predators organization. Go Ads!

While this was posted when the parents were in Cabo, I’m sure the pups will be back at it this week.

Central Division News:

How St. Louis Blues GM Doug Armstrong won the summer in free agency | ESPN.com
Good moves have certainly been made. Still not sure about goalies though. "The Central Division and the Western Conference seem like an ever escalating arms race." Seriously.

Kunitz brings versatility and experience to Blackhawks | NHL.com
Because 38 year old versatility is what was missing. Yeah, that's the ticket.

Blaine's Matt Hendricks signs with Minnesota Wild | hometownsource.com
I had no idea that Matt Hendricks was drafted by the Nashville Predators. I just remember him being traded a few years ago right after they put up his community service banner.

Dahlin signs three-year, entry-level contract with Sabres | NHL.com
Okay Phil Housley. You got him, now let's see you put him to good use!

Panarin unsure about long-term contract with Blue Jackets NHL.com
The furor around this situation is amusing to me. Everyone is mad at Artemi Panarin for telling the team he doesn't want to be there long term so they can make plans, yet John Tavares was a heel for doing the opposite. Make up your minds hockey fans.

Super Slow Mo: Hardest Hits | NHL.com
Before we play this, I have a couple of thoughts. In slow motion many of these hits look suspect and there seems to be a large number of shoulders to the face. Also, if someone can check your helmet off, I submit you are wearing it too loose to do much good. And finally, watch for the guy into the bench who almost gets a skate up his *** and James Neal laying a Filip Forsberg butt check.

Okay. Owie Filip Forsberg, that looked like it hurt. Cody McCleod - swing and a miss! Viktor Arvidsson For The Win! Nice legal hit Austin Watson.

Scott Darling's comeback summer, Carolina Hurricanes | News & Observer
Long but very interesting read from the Raleigh paper. I had no idea that much of Scott Darling's issues last year started from him reporting to camp very out of shape. I'm rooting for him to push Petr Mrazek to the background and own the crease.

Matt Cullen returns to Penguins, hopes for new ending to career | TribLIVE
I totally spaced last week and missed this article. Matt Cullen (Cully!) is back with the Pittsburgh Penguins for a one year league minimum stint. Apparently the year with the Minnesota Wild left a bad taste in his mouth and he wants to go out on a higher note. (Either that or he is really trying to break Jaromir Jagr's record.)

NHL free agency: Toronto signs Tyler Ennis after bought out by Wild | SI.com
Plus he may get to play wing with John Tavares. I hope his performance says "Eat it, Wild!.
