The Predators placed Craig Smith on Injured Reserve yesterday. Smith was a late scratch in Tuesday’s contest against Dallas.
Smith has 29 points this season (16 goals, 13 assists). Tyler Gaudet was recalled from the Milwaukee Admirals but was a healthy scratch on Thursday. Smith has been a mainstay in the Nashville lineup for the last few seasons. His speed is noticeable but his consistency is his greatest weakness.
While many Predators fans tend to focus on the team’s need for additional scoring, losing Smith is not ideal for the Predators. In a nearly-healthy lineup, the Predators have seen Kyle Turris struggle to get going after his return from a suspected rib injury. Kevin Fiala has often struggled this season, too. Hopefully Smith’s recovery is short and he can return to the lineup in the next few days.
Donato assisted on a power play goal in his first game as a member of the Wild. Wearing #6 for his new club, Donato makes an excellent shot from the blue line that Jared Spurgeon buried for a rebound:
Meanwhile, we’re all waiting with bated breath to see where the “big name” players will go.
You Can Play Hockey
The Nashville Predators recently covered the story of a young hockey player who plays sled hockey. If you missed it, you can catch it here.
The Predators do incredible work ensuring hockey is accessible for people of all ages and abilities. I was recently at Ford Ice Center during stick time and got to witness the skill and athleticism of some sled hockey athletes.
Nashville Predators Goal of the Week
It was SO SATISFYING to see Kyle Turris get back on the scoresheet. It seems like it’s been several years since Turris last scored (it was 2018). This is his 7th goal of the season.
Nashville Predators Save of the Week
This one goes to The Reigning Vezina Trophy Winner, also in Thursday’s game against the Kings.
While Rinne’s giveaway was less-than-ideal, he put himself in the right place to make a save.
