Nashville Predators 3, Buffalo Sabres 2: Preds Pick Up Two Points in Central Division Race | On The Forecheck
There was no love for former goaltender Carter Hutton Tuesday night in Buffalo. Not that there should have been with the Preds fighting tooth and nail to finish first in the Central to avoid playing St. Louis or Winnipeg in the first round.

Suspension over, Watson returns for Predators | ESPN
Austin Watson returned to the Predators lineup tonight after not playing a game with the team since January.

It wasn’t a bad night for him either.

The Predators find themselves in an unfamiliar, difficult position in the Central Division | AtoZ Sports
Worst case scenario is playing Winnipeg or St. Louis in the first round.

On the flip side, for whatever reason Nashville tends to play better on the road and with their backs against the wall like a bunch of animals who don’t like nice things.

This team makes no sense.

Preds Assign Forward Zac Rinaldo to Milwaukee on Long-Term Injury Loan | NHL
I imagine much like Miikka Salomäki we won’t see a return of Zac Rinaldo this season, but the Preds are readying everyone they can for the post-season.

Binnington takes NHL rookie honors for second month in a row | St. Louis Post-Dispatch
Add this to the list of reasons Nashville doesn’t want to play St. Louis in the first round.

NWHL will get ‘significantly’ more financial support from NHL following folding of CWHL | CBS Sports
With plans to expand to Toronto and Montreal next season, this move makes the most sense.

McDavid frustrated Oilers missed playoffs, says finding right GM key | NHL
Finding a GM who won’t put the entire success of the team on the shoulders of one player is a good start. It’s not going to turn the Oilers around overnight, though.

I think McDavid is going to have to face the harsh reality of who he plays for.

Stanley Cup Playoff Buzz: Jets try to extend lead in Central | NHL
Spoiler Alert: They didn’t.

Everything went wrong for the Preds Monday night, and everything went wrong for Winnipeg Tuesday night.

The Preds and the Jets are currently tied with 96 points.

The Blues could make the difference as they have a game in hand, but they have the first half of a back to back against Chicago Wednesday night.

For the first time in history, Nashville may want to rally for Chicago to win. [Ed: This statement may not be representative of the views of the entire On The Forecheck staff.]

The Central is going to come down to the wire, folks.

Honestly the NHL should have more fun like this.

Pacific Division Round Up: Vegas burns out heading into the ‘yoffs | Fear the Fin
I’m not surprised that Vegas made it to the playoffs...okay, maybe a little bit surprised. I don’t imagine their run to be anything like last season. In fact I imagine San Jose blows them out of the water in the first round.
