Tuesday’s Dump & Chase: Losing My Religion

New, comments

I am finding it difficult to maintain an interest with the limited hockey news, especially Predators news, available in the middle of summer.

Smashville News:

Preds Staffers Serve with Soles4Souls in Colombia | NHL.com
"Throughout the week, a group of Predators employees will blog on their adventures in Colombia as they distribute thousands of shoes with Soles4Souls." Today's long read - but a good one. Congratulations to all who participated in this worthy cause.

Preds Official Podcast: Offseason Recap - So Far | NHL.com
First, full disclosure. I haven't listened to this, but hey - new Nashville Predators content!

Congratulations to Roman and Ellie on their marriage this weekend!

I also saw a comment on Twitter that Mikael Granlund got married this past weekend. If true, congratulations to him and his wife and son!

Central Division News:

Avalanche Central Division Favorites And Cup Contenders - SBRpicks.com
”After a busy off-season, the Avalanche are now Central Division favorites and Stanley Cup contenders.” How quickly things have turned in the Central Division! Remember when we were the favorites? Also, Colin Wilson quietly signed a one year $2.6M contract. Gabriel Bourque is still a UFA.

Let’s hope Paul Goodman doesn’t repeat the success he had with Alex DeBrincat.

Minnesota Wild need Devan Dubnyk to bounce back | Puck Prose
I’m not sure if these stats look that bad. How about not overworking your 33-year-old goaltender? Or scoring more goals?

Other Hockey News:

John Tavares with an interesting if totally politically correct interview.

Penguins turn to Galchenyuk after Kessel trade, sign Tanev for depth | NHL.com
A number of ins and outs for the Pittsburgh Penguins this summer. I can't believe that Olli Määttä is only 24. It seems as if he’s been around forever. And of course, Cully. :-(

James Neal For Milan Lucic Is A Good Trade For The Edmonton Oilers | Deadspin
I am rooting for Heel James Neal. He is the one man in blistering Nashville heat with the courage (audacity?) to wear shorts to Roman Josi's wedding. Seriously though, I hope he has a great bounce-back year.

After the Lucic trade, here are the NHL's top 10 'untradeable' contracts | TheHockeyNews
Nashville Predators center Kyle Turris is in at number ten. Here's hoping for better things this year to prove them wrong. Shea Weber? I think it's already been shown that the contract can in fact be traded.

Super Slow Mo: Reg. Season Hits | NHL.com
Well hello! I enjoy slow mo hits. Waiting...waiting...owie...ahh...oof...whoa. Still waiting. This is a very Penguins video. Ouch! Sorry Nick Bonino. I am waiting for the Filip Forsberg butt check. Oh! That one almost took out the linesman too. Welp...only one for the Predators...hmmm (that might be part of our issues?). Actually, if you count being the hitter and the hittee, I think Patric Hörnqvist wins the video.

Is there too much offence from the defence in today’s NHL? | TSN.ca
Let's start this argument again! Of the seven "easy" cases, Matt Irwin is one of those who should shoot less. Ha.
