I think this is a good look at something that often goes overlooked. Yes, some teams sold the farm for players on expiring contracts and it might help them make a deep playoff run. However, I often find myself wondering about a player that winds up being a part of one of these deals...they have to be thinking about how the rest of the season plays into their next contract.
