Arizona Coyotes staff member tests positive for COVID-19 | Sportsnet.ca
I typed and deleted several sentences containing phrases like "as a resident of Arizona" and "feckless greed" but ultimately couldn't get the parts of them to fit together. Short version, Arizona never closed down properly and re-opened a long time ago, has cases soaring, isn't managing to get testing done, and in spite of all that nobody is wearing masks.
That only one staff member for the Coyotes has come down with COVID-19 so far seems to be a testament to the seriousness with which the NHL is taking the situation. It would be nice if the rest of the state noticed hockey existed, noticed what the hockey team was doing, and followed their lead. (It'd also be nice if the tests the Coyotes are using every time players come to the rink were available to doctors, but I covered that in my editorial on the subject even before it was specifically about my home state.)
...Nobody reads the Sunday D&C anyway, right? One of these days you’re going to wander in here and there isn’t going to be any hockey at all, I’ll just be rambling about something.
NHLers in need of visa extensions 'strongly encouraged' to return by June 21 | Sportsnet.ca
I do wonder how or if the question of what country the second hub city will be in affects this. If your employer is based in Canada but you're living and working full-time in the US, or vice versa, do you still go back to your team's city, or straight to the hub?

I still regret that I wasn't able to make it to the Arizona showcase, but it sounds like that kind of visibility is still something that they consider a valuable part of the PHWPA's work, so fingers crossed I get another chance.
