Good morning, Preds fans!
Thanks to Twitter, many Seattle Kraken draft picks are leaking prior to tonight’s live expansion draft (at 7 PM Central).
We’ve started a live thread with updates as we’re seeing them...
Seattle has come to terms with Adam Larsson and Jamie Oleksiak:
Early word is #SeaKraken are closing in on contracts with two UFA defensemen: Adam Larsson (EDM) and Jamie Oleksiak (DAL).
— Frank Seravalli (@frank_seravalli) July 21, 2021
Not finalized. But barring any last minute change, the expectation is those players will be the selections from #Oilers and #GoStars.@DFOHockey
Carey Price remains part of the Montreal Canadiens:
According to sources, the Kraken did NOT select Carey Price in the expansion draft. He remains property of the Montreal Canadiens@TSNHockey @TheAthletic
— Pierre LeBrun (@PierreVLeBrun) July 21, 2021
Gabriel Landeskog remains a UFA...
The Kraken did not sign/select pending UFA star winger Gabriel Landeskog. So he remains a pending UFA, either headed to market July 28 or re-signing with the Avs if Colorado circles back before then and can bridge the sizeable gap that remains.@TSNHockey @TheAthletic

Toronto traded for McCann, exposed him, and now he’s a Kraken:
His stay was short-lived in Toronto. The #SeaKraken will be selecting Jared McCann from the #Leafs.
— Frank Seravalli (@frank_seravalli) July 21, 2021
The end result: Toronto traded prospect Filip Hallander and a 7th round pick to Pittsburgh to essentially protect their roster from Seattle.@DFOHockey
The goalie selections will include Joey Daccord from Ottawa:
Can confirm #Sens expect to lose Joey Daccord tonight. Makes the draft more interesting. https://t.co/w1dO4HWVwN
— Bruce Garrioch (@SunGarrioch) July 21, 2021
...And Vitek Vanecek from Washington and Chris Driedger from the Panthers:
Sounds like the three goaltenders selected by #SeaKraken will be Chris Driedger (FLA), Vitek Vanecek (WSH) and Joey Daccord (OTT).@DFOHockey
— Frank Seravalli (@frank_seravalli) July 21, 2021
Mark Giordano, Calgary Flames captain, is a Kraken:
BREAKING - I can confirm that the Seattle Kraken have chosen Calgary Flames captain Mark Giordano as their pick at the Expansion Draft, to be announced this evening.
— Salim Nadim Valji (@salimvalji) July 21, 2021
Vince Dunn is the choice from St. Louis, not Vladimir Tarasenko:
Sources say #SeaKraken also passed on another high-profile, big money player: Vladimir Tarasenko.
— Frank Seravalli (@frank_seravalli) July 21, 2021
Subject to change but sounds like the selection from #stlblues will be Vince Dunn.@DFOHockey
I had to ask Eamon if this is a real Flyers player:
There was a lot of intrigue about whether #SeaKraken would be tempted to take one of the high-priced players the #Flyers dangled.
— Frank Seravalli (@frank_seravalli) July 21, 2021
Hearing the selection was a bit of a surprise: Carsen Twarynski.
Can honestly say I didn't see him plucked in many mock drafts. @DFOHockey
Meanwhile, here’s the news we all expected:
Hearing the #SeaKraken preserved more valuable cap space by passing on Ryan Johansen and Matt Duchene in Nashville.
— Chris Johnston (@reporterchris) July 21, 2021
Belief is they will select Calle Järnkrok instead.
Jordan Eberle from the Islanders is now a Kraken:
Hearing a rumor that Seattle will take (or I suppose at this point, has taken) Jordan Eberle from the Islanders. We shall see tonight...
— Ryan Kennedy (@THNRyanKennedy) July 21, 2021
And from Winnipeg, Mason Appleton (and a JFreshHockey chart):
Mason Appleton, reportedly selected by SEA, is a good two-way middle sixer. #SeaKraken pic.twitter.com/1BX5S64W40
— JFresh (@JFreshHockey) July 21, 2021
Hmmm, Morgan Geekie from Carolina:
Hearing that Seattle passed on Jake Bean and instead chose Morgan Geekie from Carolina@TSNHockey @TheAthletic
— Pierre LeBrun (@PierreVLeBrun) July 21, 2021
And...Joonas Donskoi from the Avs:
Also hearing that the Kraken are going to take Joonas Donskoi from the #Avs in the expansion draft. #SeaKraken
— Ryan S. Clark (@ryan_s_clark) July 21, 2021
A surprise from Columbus:
Mild surprise from #CBJ. The pick is not Max Domi.#SeaKraken will be selecting D Gavin Bayreuther from Columbus.@DFOHockey
— Frank Seravalli (@frank_seravalli) July 21, 2021
From Boston:
Curious to see who #SeaKraken wanted from the multitude of blueliners available from Boston with new assistant coach Jay Leach's insight.
— Frank Seravalli (@frank_seravalli) July 21, 2021
Sounds like the pick from #NHLBruins will be Jeremy Lauzon.@DFOHockey
The picks are coming in fast and furious now. Is there any point in watching the live show tonight? Nah. Here’s the pick from the Kings:
Hearing #SeaKraken will select D Kurtis MacDermid from #LAKings.
— Frank Seravalli (@frank_seravalli) July 21, 2021
Here’s another JFreshHockey card for New Jersey’s pick:
Nathan Bastian, reportedly selected by SEA from NJ, has an outside chance of a establishing a permanent NHL career. #SeaKraken pic.twitter.com/ZHOyld83w2
— JFresh (@JFreshHockey) July 21, 2021
Tyler Pitlick from Dallas:
Tyler Pitlick, reportedly selected by SEA, is yet another low-event defensive bottom six forward. #SeaKraken pic.twitter.com/sGX5wmit9w
— JFresh (@JFreshHockey) July 21, 2021
I am seeing reports of defenseman Carson Soucy being drafted from Minnesota:
Sources say the Kraken have taken defenseman Carson Soucy from the #mnwild.
— Michael Russo (@RussoHockey) July 21, 2021
Wild's top-5 D is now a top-3 of Brodin-Spurgeon-Dumba. Wild will need at least 3 NHL defensemen in free agency, plus a depth guy IMO, to push Calen Addison.
From Vancouver, Kole Lind:
#Canucks will lose forward prospect Kole Lind in the Expansion Draft to #SeaKraken.@DFOHockey
— Frank Seravalli (@frank_seravalli) July 21, 2021
Something interesting from the Rangers:
Hearing Seattle is going to take Colin Blackwell from #NYR ... but there could be a trade in the works (for D Mark Giordano?) that changes the pick and allows Rangers to keep Blackwell.
— Rick Carpiniello (@RickCarpiniello) July 21, 2021
From Anaheim:
Hearing that the Ducks lost Haydn Fleury in expansion to Seattle@TSNHockey @TheAthletic
— Pierre LeBrun (@PierreVLeBrun) July 21, 2021
Me, being dumb, forgot Joonas Donskoi was with the Avs (now Seattle) and not San Jose. Here’s San Jose’s choice:
Hearing Seattle took forward Alexander True from San Jose@TSNHockey @TheAthletic
— Pierre LeBrun (@PierreVLeBrun) July 21, 2021
This makes sense re: the Rangers. We would know about any trades tonight (or later this week):
Based on everything we've seen so far today, Seattle's building a solid blue line so it makes sense that the #NYR would try to swing some sort of a deal to bolster their defense, whether it's Giordano or another back.

Update:
As of 12:30 Central, we are missing information for the Penguins, Blackhawks, Sabres, Red Wings, and Lightning.
As of 12:31 Central:
