Eric Nystrom Out 4 Weeks with Lower Body Injury

Per the team, Predators forward Eric Nystrom is out an estimated 4 weeks with a lower body injury. This occurred during the game at New Jersey, where Nystrom took an awkward spill into the boards. He left the game, did not return.

Nashville shuffled their lines for Thursday’s game against the Islanders, and the fourth line featured Taylor Beck, Gabriel Bourque, and Paul Gaustad. Beck and Bourque both had decent scoring chances due to their forecheck, however both were near misses.

Nashville Predators forward Eric Nystrom will miss four weeks with a lower-body injury, according to the team.

Nystrom, in his ninth NHL season and second with the Predators, has seven goals and 12 points in 60 games.

The Predators have lost five straight games in regulation but continue to lead the Central Division with 89 points.

Given Nystrom’s role, both Beck and Bourque will absorb the minutes Nystrom played on the penalty kill and the fourth line did look more effective last night. Given how the current coaching staff does like to keep an extra body on the roster, we could expect to see a call to Milwaukee in the near future. Will it be Viktor Stalberg (again)? Miikka Salomaki? We’ll see.
