Preview: Nashville Predators vs. Carolina Hurricanes 4/15/21: Vibing

Nashville Predators

In short, the Predators are vibing.

They embarrassed the Lightning on Tuesday in a 7-2 statement win at Bridgestone Arena. Look for Viktor Arvidsson, Rocco Grimaldi, and Colton Sissons to try to post more points. Rem Pitlick should stay in the lineup alongside Mikael Granlund.

Phil Tomasino was recalled to the taxi squad on Wednesday, but it’s unclear whether he will play or if this recall is simply a reward for excellent play in the AHL.

As a reminder, the Hurricanes have the #1 ranked power play in the NHL, so the Predators will have to stay out of the box or bring their best penalty kill tonight.

Carolina Hurricanes

The Hurricanes haven’t played since Monday. They were somewhat inexplicably defeated by the Detroit Red Wings, and also lost on Saturday in the shootout to Detroit. They’ll certainly be looking for a victory tonight.

In terms of trade deadline acquisitions, the Canes acquired Jani Hakanpaa from Anaheim in exchange for Haydn Fleury. Hakanpaa is described as fitting Carolina’s need for a right-shot defenseman in a specific role.

Keep your eye on Vincent Trocheck. He has 6 points in his last 5 games and will be looking to add more tonight. In net, James Reimer is 14-5-1 with a .907 Sv%. He will likely get one start in this 2-game series.
