Preview: Nashville Predators vs. Detroit Red Wings 4/6/21: April Points

Nashville Predators

The Preds are in Detroit tonight to (hopefully) cash in on two more points in this weird, odd, strange playoff race.

Juuse Saros posted a very nice shutout on Saturday against the Chicago Blackhawks. However, that big win came at a price…Viktor Arvidsson left the game with “upper body discomfort” from an apparent neck or head injury after running into Kirby Dach. However, Arvidsson was photographed walking to the charter plane for the Detroit trip, so that’s a very good sign. There’s been no update on his status, but I’m hopeful it’s nothing serious.

Tommy Novak was recalled from Milwaukee/Chicago, but the Predators have enough guys on the taxi squad to fill this hole if necessary. Novak, Pitlick, and a few others will likely remain on the taxi squad. It also appears that David Farrance travelled to Detroit with the team.

Last time out, Colton Sissons tallied on a penalty shot, Eeli Tolvanen notched his 10th goal of the season, and Luke Kunin snuck a puck in under the pads of Kevin Lankinen to secure the win on Saturday.

Detroit Red Wings

The Red Wings had a HUGE win against the Tampa Bay Lightning on Sunday. Here’s the recap:

Dylan Larkin, Valtteri Filppula, Michael Rasmussen, and Marc Staal scored for the Red Wings; Darren Helm added an empty-netter. That was Detroit’s first win at Amalie Arena since 2011.

Sunday’s win was goaltender Thomas Greiss’s third win of the season.

Reasons to Watch

  • Juuse Saros
  • Eeli Tolvanen
  • Every win keeps us in the playoff race. I feel like the Predators are going “all in” without expressing that./
