Golden Games: Filip Dazzles vs. Neal’s Wristers

Welcome back to the Golden Games, a silly contest where we vote on game performances from last year to see which was the best. Click here for the full details, as well as the overall bracket. (Bracket has been updated with the most recent poll closings!)

Today is a great match-up. Filip Forsberg performs sorcery on the ice and James Neal closes out Rexall Place with a hat-trick.

#4 Filip Forsberg (4/5/16 vs. COL)

On a quiet Tuesday evening, the Predators eliminated the Avalanche from playoff contention and Filip Forsberg scored a goal for his career highlight reel. During 5-on-3 power play, the puck careened off Ryan Johansen’s skate into the vicinity of Forsberg. Using skills and instincts that simply cannot be taught, Fil pulled off a street move for the ages that beat Semyon Varlamov. If you haven’t watched it in a while, do yourself a favor and watch it again below.

The goal put the Preds up 2-0 and they held on to win 4-3.

#5 James Neal (3/14/16 @ EDM)

During the Predators’ final visit to Rexall Place, James Neal made sure to leave an indelible mark on the hallowed hall. The Oilers, long out of contention for a playoff spot, put up a solid fight, but they simply could not contain Neal. Beating goalie Laurent Brossoit with three goals on four shots, Neal was absolutely on fire, releasing deadly quick wrist shots with incredible precision. There wasn’t much the Oilers could have done differently in this one. The Predators went on to win the game 3-2, with Neal providing all of the scoring for Preds.

Take a look at Neal’s third goal below. It’s a beauty.
