Golden Games: Fisher’s Thriller vs. Clutch HJN

Welcome back to the Golden Games, a silly contest where we vote on game performances from last year to see which was the best. Click here for the full details, as well as the overall bracket. (Note: the bracket will be updated as the polls close, so check back for progress).

Today is a sneaky 2 v 7 match-up with two excellent performances from Mike Fisher and James Neal.

#2 Mike Fisher (5/5/16 vs. SJ, Game 4)

The first (and definitely not the last) entry in the famous triple overtime “Seis De Mayo” thriller in Nashville. Mike Fisher played himself a whale of game for over 37 freaking minutes (James Neal was the only forward with more ice-time at 38:59). Both of his goals were classic Mike Fisher: right place, right time, capitalizing on a rebound in the front of the net. But the most memorable was the game-winner. Watch it again below.

An instant favorite moment for everyone involved, Fisher’s game-winner sent the exhausted crowd into a slap-happy frenzy, the likes of which the Bridge has never seen.

#7 James Neal (10/20/15 vs. TB)

On Tuesday, October 20th, the Predators faced off against the reigning Eastern Conference champion Tampa Bay Lightning. James Neal was on fire in this game. Twice he brought the Preds back from a goal deficit. First, he tied it up late in the 2nd (1:31 in video below), just after Ryan Callahan had given the Lightning a 3-2 lead. Then, late in the 3rd period, he tied it up again, capitalizing on a gorgeous pass from Filip Forsberg (2:03). Nealer piled on the shots in this one, getting 8 pucks on net in the game, as well as he dominated the possession game.

The Preds went on to win the game in the shootout, with Forsberg getting the only shootout goal.
