Golden Games: Rinne Secures Game 7 vs. Human Rocketship

Welcome back to the Golden Games, a silly contest where we vote on game performances from last year to see which was the best. Click here for the full details, as well as the overall bracket.

Today we have Pekka Rinne’s timely gem in the playoffs going against the first appearance of #HumanRocketship. And both games are against the Ducks!

#1 Pekka Rinne (4/27/16 @ ANA, Game 7)

After blowing a 2-0 series lead and then fighting off an elimination game in Nashville, the Preds faced the Ducks in a Game 7 in Anaheim. After Colin Wilson and Paul Gaustad put the Preds up 2-0, the Preds had to fight off a desperate Ducks team for 40 minutes. Pekka Rinne, who needed a statement game badly, played superb, leading the Preds to victory.

The Predators first ever Game 7 win simply would not have happened without Pekka Rinne. Regardless of his sub-par season, Rinne’s 2015-16 season should be remembered for this gem.

#8 Ryan Ellis (10/22/15 vs. ANA)

It was still early, but the Preds were making statements in October. Just two days after beating the reigning Eastern Conference champion Tampa Bay Lightning in overtime, the Preds hosted the Ducks. Even though Anaheim started their season in the dumpster, they were still a dangerous team. Ryan Ellis led all players with 3 points, including a demonstrative goal to put the Preds up 2-0 (seen below), and helped the Preds to a 5-1 rout.

Ellis showed off all of his skills in this game: dishing, puck-possession, shooting, and defense.
