Here’s How to Help in Wake of the Tennessee Tornado Devastation

Like it is for all of you, the string of deadly tornadoes across Middle Tennessee is front-and-center in our minds and hearts today.  We’re heartbroken by the images of our neighbors’ homes and businesses destroyed, and the thoughts of all the lives and livelihoods impacted by these devastating storms.

Many of you have reached out asking for ways to help in wake of the tornadoes.  So we’re starting a running list of things you can do, people to contact if you need help, or just some ways to donate.  This list will be updated throughout the day, so if we miss something, or you’d like to add a suggestion, please do not hesitate to Tweet us, comment, or simply message one of our staff members.

Donations/Drives

NashvilleTNStore.com is donating 100% of today’s sales of their “We Believe In Nashville” shirts to the Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee.  You can buy one here.

Likewise, Shop Local Kentucky has created a “Nashville Forever” shirt, and 100% of Tuesday’s sales will go towards the CFMT.  More information on the link below.

The Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee has also activated an emergency response fund.  Grants from all donations will be given to various non-profits to help with recovery.  We’ve set up a link to donate on our Facebook page, which we’ve linked below.  You can also Donate Here.

The American Red Cross of Tennessee is NOT accepting donations at the moment.  However, they are asking for blood donations.  You can find a drive near you in the link below.

If you would like to donate blood, please visit https://t.co/BHTDTTjoWd and enter your ZIP code to find a blood drive near you. The only canceled blood drive for Tuesday, March 3, is at Goodpasture School. All other planned donation sites and drives are operating as planned.

The Community Resource Center will be accepting donations throughout the day.  In particular, they’re seeking personal hygiene items, cleaning supplies, such as bleach and trash bags, gloves, and box cutters.  You can drop off items at the location below, and visit their website for more info.

For those wanting to donate items, please visit the Community Resource Center at 218 Omohundro Place or call them at 615-291-6688. Please note: no clothing will be accepted.

Several people have started an impromptu bottle water drive at Centennial SportsPlex, one of the emergency shelters currently open.  The SportsPlex is located at 222 2th Avenue North.

Volunteer Work

• Hands On Nashville has a registration page for anyone who’d like to volunteer their time to the recovery efforts.  You can register on their website here.  Due to the overwhelming response, the website has run slow at times today./

Resources for Victims

The Grilled Cheeserie’s food truck will be handing out free sandwiches in East Nashville to anyone who needs a warm meal.

• The Red Cross has opened several emergency shelters in Middle Tennessee, including the Centennial SportsPlex (222 2th Avenue North), East Magnet High School near Five Points (110 Gallatin Avenue), and the Victory Baptist Church in Mt. Juliet (1777 Tate Lane).
• The Nashville Predators will open Bridgestone Arena at 11:00 A.M. CST Tuesday morning to serve pizza for anyone impacted by last night’s storms./

The Nashville Humane Society has pet supplies — such as crates, food, blankets, and leashes among other things— available for any owners who may need it.  They’re closed for regular adoptions today to focus on recovery efforts, which include tending to injured animals, and reuniting lost pets with their owners.
