Memorial Day D&C/Open Thread

Let’s start with this:

It was finally the Thunder’s time, until suddenly it wasn’t – SBNation.com
I’m biased and pulling for Billy Donavan’s bunch, but this is great television. The rating tonights will be brutal for the NHL, as the rest of the world will be watching the NBA. Absolute dumbassery by the NHL by passing up a Sunday game.

Why would we start with a basketball link? Because it’s been a great series and provided us some great TV. The Thunder and the Warriors are great matchup, and the styles are working great together. Everyone knows how good Steph Curry is, but Russell Westbrook has been a great foil to Curry thus far. And how about Klay Thompson going off in game six? That was something.

I bring this up because instead of sharing the Sunday of Memorial Day Weekend with the NBA in the event of the Raptors forcing a game seven, the NHL opted for Monday. The Warriors and Thunder will be playing a game seven tonight. And being as nice as I can be… NO ONE (other than hardcore hockey fans) IS GOING TO WATCH GAME ONE OF THE STANLEY CUP FINAL TONIGHT. The NBA is already on a superior television network, but tonight’s ratings massacre will be embarrassing.

And that’s a shame, since tonight’s game is essentially going to be the hockey version of the Thunder vs. Warriors. Both teams score plenty, but do so in contrasting styles. It deserves primetime attention.

Anyways, here’s your news.
