Mike Fisher placed on IR, will miss at least four games

The Nashville Predators have announced that forward Mike Fisher has been placed on injured reserve, and will miss four games. He will be reevaluated after that time.

Fisher apparently suffered the injury last night when he fell to the ice attempting to carry the puck away from Arizona’s Martin Hanzal. The 35-year-old center was slow to get up, limped off the ice and immediately to the dressing room, and did not return for the rest of the game.

Even though he had a slow start to the season, Fisher’s offense had just started to come alive. He was responsible for three of the Predators six goals in the six games prior to last night’s tilt. This will certainly put a strain on the already dubious lineup at center, but may open the doors for Calle Jarnkrok or Colton Sissons to step up into a much larger role. There’s also the possibility of another call up from Milwaukee, depending on how the other skaters on IR shake out. (At this point, they should just deplete the roster.)

The Predators face the Florida Panthers tomorrow night in Nashville.
