Monday’s Dump & Chase: Cannons Away!

Nashville Predators News

Four Predators score in win against Blue Jackets
I love this headline for some reason. It screams, “We couldn’t distinguish this game in an interesting way, so here is a technical fact about the result of the contest.”

Preds didn’t get a power play in this one. Probably deserved one on the Seth Jones high stick. It didn’t matter in the end, but still… getting blanked in the special teams department is rare.

Not only was this a nice win for the Wings, but Thomas Vanek scored his 15th goal. Restock that farm system, Detroit.

Ok, yeah Ryan McDonagh had a good game, but the only American that mattered in this game is T.J. Oshie. That dude is awesome.

Dang. Hoffman, Stone, and Wingels added to a list that already includes Bobby Ryan.

Should Jacob Trouba be suspended for this Mark Stone hit? (Video)
Uhh, yes.

Look, there is no reason that hits to the head shouldn’t be A) an automatic 5 minute major and B) a mandatory minimum suspension. What argument could there be against that? There is simply no way this is good for the game. Concussions are real and they cause more than just a few games of missed time. They ruin careers and lives.

Fix this.

Unmasked: Patrik Laine started out stopping pucks, not shooting them | The Hockey News
Good read. I am already insanely jealous that the Jets have this guy. Next generation Ovechkin with a similar swag to his game. I wonder if Ovi started out as a goalie…

The proud hockey history of Warroad, Minnesota: ‘Hockeytown USA’ | ProHockeyTalk
“For a town whose population has never topped the 2,000 mark since it was officially incorporated in 1901, it has been a significant power in the United States hockey community with a legacy that has produced five NHL players, seven Olympians, and more than 80 (men and women combined) Division I hockey players.”

To put this in perspective, imagine if Pegram, TN produced five NFL players. Or seven U.S. Olympians. Or 80 NCAA baseball players.

Insane.
