Nashville Predators 0, Florida Panthers 3: Middling Preds Can’t Muster a Goal in Florida

The Predators, on the second half of a back-to-back, appeared ready to go against the Panthers. With Kyle Turris once again out of the lineup, the Predators iced the same lines from the Carolina game. The first power play of the evening went to Florida with Daniel Carr in the box. The Predators were able to kill off the Florida penalty with ease.

Florida was whistled for a penalty shortly after, and Nashville tried their hand on the man advantage. They were unable to sustain any sort of zone pressure. With Dan Hamhuis in the box, the Predators had to kill off a second Florida power play as the period drew to a close.

The Panthers scored first off a juicy rebound. Anton Strålman found the back of the net for Florida. Dan Hamhuis returned to the box for a second time, but the Predators were able to kill off the penalty. With under 9 minutes remaining in the second period, the Predators went back on the power play. The Panthers were whistled for delay of game, but Nashville couldn’t convert on either man advantage.

Both the Predators and the Panthers sent a man to the penalty box at the end of the second period. Neither team found a way to convert during some 4-on-4 time at the beginning of the third. With just under 12 minutes left in the game, Strålman scored again to increase Florida’s lead. Aleksander Barkov gave the Panthers a 3-0 lead with 8:45 remaining in the game.

After a shutout in Raleigh, the Predators got shut out in Florida. The Predators appeared uninspired, disjointed, and on several different pages of communication tonight.
