Nashville Predators 1, Carolina Hurricanes 4: Canes Demolish Preds on Carolina Moms’ Trip

Hockey on a Tuesday…nothing better! The first period started quite slowly, but Jordan Staal found the first goal for the Hurricanes after a mad scramble in front of the Nashville net. Juuse Saros did everything in his power to save the puck.

With Sebastian Aho in the box, the Predators had several chances against Petr Mrazek, but were unable to capitalize. Saros kept the game manageable, but the Predators didn’t seem to have any kind of life in the first period.

Saros had to begin the second period on his toes. The younger Finnish netminder was sharp against some early Carolina chances. A wildly bouncing puck from Jarred Tinordi to Ryan Johansen seemingly tied the game, but Carolina challenged for goaltender interference. After Bridgestone was lit up with thousands of cell phone lights and passionate fans belting the words to the Beatles’ “Let It Be,” the call on the ice was upheld.

The Hurricanes were assessed a bench minor for losing the goaltender interference challenge. The Predators were unable to score on their free power play. Andrei Svechnikov scored on a Carolina power play immediately after to give his team a 2-1 lead.

The Predators were unable to do much with a power play at the end of the period and went into the second intermission down by two goals.

The third period did not begin well. It didn’t really end well, either.
