Nashville Predators @ Buffalo Sabres Preview: Happy Memories

It’s the day before a major US holiday.

You’re likely sitting at home relaxing, or stuck at work counting down the seconds until you can bolt out of the office and hit the road to your weekend’s destination. The last thing you want to hear about is Nashville’s scoreless streak, or the frustration that is boiling over with the team right now. Even as they prep to face the 24th place Sabres, the Predators aren’t putting many butterflies in your stomach. It’s more likely they are forcing you to empty the contents of it, instead.

So I’m going to eschew the normal pregame format for today. We will see Buffalo again in three days time, and there will be plenty of time for a breakdown then. You don’t need that right now. All you need to know about them is this: they are 27th in goals for, but league average in goals against. They have a top-10 power play, but the worst PK unit in all the NHL. Ryan O’Reilly leads the team in points, Evander Kane was back but now maybe isn’t, Cody Franson has already doubled his point total from his stop in Nashville in less time, and David Legwand is playing on the fourth line.

Instead, today is about happy memories. Thanksgiving (or for our Canadian friends, Thursday) is a time to reflect and appreciate everything from the big things to the small. So, in the spirit of the holiday, I’d love it if everyone shared their favorite happy memory from the past year. It doesn’t have to be hockey related, and can be as simple or elaborate as you want. Hell, if you can’t choose between a Sunday breakfast with your family and finding 20 bucks in a pair of pants, share them both.

Nashville will score a goal soon… maybe even tonight. But there’s not sense in fretting over it today. Let’s relax and fill the air with loads of pleasant thoughts.

Pregame Entertainment

The Holy Triumvirate is here to remind you that we should feel no need to worry, nor have a reason to be sad. Instead, our memories remind us that maybe road life’s not so bad.
