Predators Head Coach Named to 2022 Winter Olympics Coaching Staff

Nashville Predators head coach John Hynes has been named to Team USA’s Olympic Men’s Ice Hockey coaching staff. Hynes will serve alongside fellow assistant coaches Todd Reirden, David Quinn, and Ryan Miller, and Team USA head coach Mike Sullivan. The Winter Olympics will be held in February 2022 in Beijing, China.

Although this is Hynes’s first time serving on USA Hockey’s Olympic coaching staff, it is not his first experience coaching internationally with USA Hockey. Hynes spent nine years coaching USA Hockey’s National Development program as first an assistant and later the head coach. As a part of the coaching staff, Hynes earned four medals with USA Hockey at the Under-18 World Championships and served as the assistant coach in 2004 at the World Junior Championships, where Team USA brought home the gold medal.

Now that the coaching staff has been announced, discussion turns to a potential Team USA roster. Hynes admits he has already begun thinking about which players could help return Team USA to the medal podium, their last appearance at which was by earning a silver medal in the 2010 Olympics in Vancouver, Canada.

Coach Hynes admits he is both honored and humbled to be coaching at the 2022 Winter Olympics and is looking forward to representing the United States in Beijing.
