Nashville Selects Winger Isak Walther 179th Overall

With the 179th pick in the 2019 NHL Entry Draft, the Nashville Predators selected forward Isak Walther of Södertälje SK in Sweden.

Walther was not ranked by NHL Central scouting and split time between the J18 ‘Elit’ squad, the J18 Allsvenskan squad and the J20 SuperElit squad this season.

Walther is a late-2001 birthday who played 21 games with Sodertalje’s J18 Elit team this season, where he scored 17 goals and 34 points, leading that team. In J18 Allsvenskan play, Walther scored six goals and eight points in 14 games, good for ninth on the team. Finally, Walther suited up in five games for Sodertalje’s J20 team and impressed with two goals and four points. Additionally, he committed seven penalties all season.

The Swedish winger will play full-time for Södertälje next season in Sweden’s top junior league with the under-20 team. I didn’t catch a fair scouting report of Walther’s game this season, but will do so in preparation for a full Draft breakdown.
