Nashville signs 2020 3rd-round pick Luke Prokop to 3-year ELC

The Nashville Predators announced on Wednesday morning that the team had signed 2020 third-round pick Luke Prokop to a three-year entry-level contract.

The 6’4” right-handed defender has spent the last two full seasons playing Canadian junior hockey with the WHL’s Calgary Hitmen. Prokop tallied one goal and nine assists in 2018-19, and improved to four goals and 19 assists last season. His 23-point campaign last year included a 0.24 primary points per game rate at even strength, which was third among all draft-eligible WHL defenders.

You can read some of Eric’s insights into Prokop here and here—he believes that Prokop is a raw prospect, who will need as much time in junior hockey and Milwaukee as possible in order to develop into a serviceable NHL player. Byron Bader of HockeyProspecting.com shows that Prokop’s NHLe score (a metric for projecting prospect performance upon reaching the NHL) is low, but does draw some comparisons to players like Brady Skjei and Sami Vatenen.

Below is some video breakdown of Prokop compiled by Eric that should give you a good insight into his game.
