The Nashville Predators announced Wednesday morning the signing of forward Michael McCarron to a one-year, two-way contract worth $700,000 in the NHL, $225,000 in the AHL. McCarron arrived in the organization in January following a trade that saw Nashville swap AHL prospects with Montreal Canadiens affiliate Laval Rocket, sending Laurent Dauphin in exchange for the 25 year old forward. Montreal originally drafted McCarron 25th overall in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft.

Upon McCarron’s arrival in Milwaukee, he scored 10 goals and three assists for the Admirals in 27 games with his new team. Prior to the trade, McCarron had scored five goals and nine assists for Laval in 29 games. McCarron also played 69 games for the Canadiens, totaling only two goals and six assists in his NHL appearances.
Michael McCarron was a surprise inclusion on the Phase 3 and 4 Return to Play roster for Nashville, and traveled with the team to Edmonton for the playoff qualifier series against Arizona, despite not seeing any ice time. The center figures to be an important piece next season for the Milwaukee Admirals with the possible departures of Frederick Gaudreau, Daniel Carr, Colin Blackwell and/or Yakov Trenin.
