Nashville Predators vs. Dallas Stars Preview: Points or Bust

There’s really no other way to phrase it. Points...or bust.

On a team where missing the playoffs is almost unfathomable, the Predators need a big win against the Stars tonight to renew playoff hopes.

Nashville Predators

Tuesday night’s outing was pretty embarrassing. The team could have put up a massive game against the Wild on a night where the whole city of Nashville was reeling...but they laid down and gave up against a red-hot Wild team.

With that loss, the Preds were jumped by the Wild in the wild-card standings and now find themselves out of a playoff spot once more. Many of us are disappointed. I realize this preview isn’t very lengthy in terms of discussing the Predators, but I don’t have much else to add. It’s already March.

Dallas Stars

The Winter Classic was great for both the Predators and the Stars. After leading for two periods, the Predators found that they had no response for a quick flurry of goals against the Stars...another embarrassing game that basically resulted in Peter Laviolette’s firing.

The usual characters are clicking for the Stars. Mentally, it’s difficult for me to wrap my head around the fact that this team is suddenly good and is cruising to a nice spot in the top of the Central Division. The only news of note is that Jake Oettinger was recalled from the Texas Stars on an emergency basis. Ben Bishop might still be out with an injury, so the Predators could see Anton Khudobin tonight. Khudobin seems to always have an answer for Nashville and he’s a force in net.
